The course will introduce robotic concepts and demonstrate how to develop an automated robotic process that can be applied in architecture, construction or any creative field using a 6-axis open-source robot. The participants will be able to interact with the robot in real-time and the robotic production process will be broadcasted live through video conferencing platform. Through this workshop, you will be able to understand the fundamental concepts of how to program and operate a robot. The course will teach you how to parametrically design based on constraints of the technology and how to transfer the concepts from an open-source robot to an industrial robot (such as KUKA, ABB, Universal Robots, etc). The course will demonstrate a novel methodology, bridging the gap between computational design and robotic production. Through the process, the course will explain the potentials in robotic technology and the opportunities offered. Due to the collaborative nature of the workshop, the participants will iteratively learn simulation-based feedback design method and develop novel techniques as part of the course. The challenges faced in collaborative working, filtering of selective data and manipulation of data will be investigated in the course.
Expected outcomes for participants: At the end of the course, the participant will
- understand the fundamental concepts behind robotics
-know programming and operational concepts of using robots
-understand the potentials, constraints and know-how to develop a robotic application
